The guys who do the transcribing are offering their rendition of the song,
not the actual, exact song played by the artist (a fine line admittedly
since they are trying to get as close as possible). They do not get
compensated for it. Should a grocery store pay teh publisher of Tennyson
because a person quoted him on a 3x5 card selling his lawnmower? What about
this newsgroup when someone quotes a line in a song in their signature. I
will probably not download tab for the time being, because of the
controversy, but I hope the law comes down on the side of what I consider
common sense. It is not the artists who are hurt by this, it is theMPA.
