see a bunch of folks didn't like the GFD DVD. Is there a Method or set of lessons on DVD that you *would* recommend?
There's no way I'll ever buy anything that calls me a 'dummy' or an 'idiot'. I've never understood the appeal for the series
The appeal to many people is that they work. I know a double-handful of guitarists who swear by the series, and as a teaching tool (I used to teach guitar years ago), it's better than many I've seen. No series is perfect for everyone, of course.
When I taught guitar lessons, I found the self-admitted "dummies" to be the best students - and they progressed most rapidly. They had absolutely NO preconcieved notions, and were eager to learn. In contrast, those who had "picked up a little here 'n there" were awful. They refused to let go of bad habits and counterproductive things they "thought" were right.
