Field Recordings
Tracks often include sound effects from "the field". They
could be jet planes, bird calls, waves, thunder, whatever.
What kind of battery operated portable recording equipment
do people use to make these recordings in the field?
What kind of mics can you get away with when doing field
recordings? Has anyone tried using a Shure PG58 mic (say),
with a parabolic reflector, to capture song birds
or loons? I have a plastic reflector I want to try.
What recording equipment can be had on a budget?
I'm curious about experiences/advice in this area.
Please ignore royalty free sound clips, since you
cannot always find what you want.
