Hey! I've played in more noisy dance gigs, pit bands, and jazz clubs than I
could ever name. I suppose that's why I've worn hearing aids for 15 years.
I've been through enough of that stuff, and I DO noodle a lot by ear at home
(it's a blast, and I learn quickly). It's just that I clam up in lessons.
I might add that I never took more than 2 or 3 lessons on the instruments I
played professionally for 2 decades (saxophones, flutes, clarinets, oboe) -
primarily self-taught.
hmmm...maybe I'm just not suited to that sort of scrutiny a teacher
provides...dunno.
