I have played in some pretty rough places. Beer and booze gets spilled on my guitars and amps, people knock the guitar off the stand, they trip over them. Once several years ago there was a gun fight in the place. My guitar was unscathed but the bass drum had 2 bullet holes in it. Got out fast and never looked back. Anyhow..... I hate bring my expensive guitars to gigs. You never know what will happen.
I have been looking on ebay at knockoffs and some are quite impressive. Tokai makes nice strats and gold top LP's. Eastwood makes reissues of Moserites and Gibsons. Dillion has a great looking selection and Jay Turser has some lovely looking archtops.
I may just get a few and keep my better guitars for wedding and restaurant gigs.
What do you think of the Asian made knockoffs?

Tokai shouldn't be grouped with the others, as they aren't exactly cheap and they are very high quality. I've played a number of used (and obviously well played) Tokai strats and they were all really, really nice. Better than the Fenders. And I like Fenders.
Some guys like the Jay Tursers....the place on ebay that sells a boatload of them is not too far from where I live. Also, another store stocks a bunch of them. I've never played one that didn't feel cheap and sound poor. YMMV
