Do what you do best. I've been at it for almost 4 years now.
Whenever I used a pick I felt very uncomfortable and the pick would
slip or drop. Last week I tried with a pick and it worked pretty well.
I found that holding the pick to tightly was a major problem for me.
BTW I personally find it easier to play fingerstyle, for the type of
music I like (folksie blusie stuff) solo, but when playing with others
its probably easier with a pick.
