There are to the marathon runner community.
Non guitarists don't have any idea who reads
and who doesn't read. Just as one legged runners
aren't familiar to you and me.

Those artists are essentially the "one legged
marathon runners" of music history. Irving and
Wes had to hire people to transcribe their stuff.
For every Jimi, Irving etc, there are ten thousand
other musicians that do read music. Hardly a good
reason NOT to teach an 8 y/o how to read.
