What do you use?
Depends. Rock-pop band uses whatever is in the venue, usually - we
don't usually do gigs where we have to take our own. Ceilidh band
generally takes its own: 2x Mackie SRM450 + Mackie CFM16 desk + Laney
12" powered and unpowered wedges.
I didn't answer because I don't gig.
If I did need to provide a PA, my first thoughts are: decent board > electronic crossover > low pass: decent power amp into a couple of sub cabs; and high pass: Mackie SRM450's
