I think the only way to reasonably test this is to get two identical
amps, set them up as close as possible to the same tone settings,
then play the same bass through an A/B switch pedal.

Then get someone else to swap the power cords without changing any other
settings and do the test again - do this a few times, with the third
party sometimes swapping and sometimes not.

There was a test of hi-fi audio cables something like that many years ago, the snooty audiophiles doing the listening couldn't identify the highly overpriced brand-name cables from lamp cord except by occasional random chance. So back then when I used to spend silly amounts of money on hi-fi gear (but only on stuff that made a difference I could actually hear) I used the heaviest speaker cable I could find and let people with more money than sense buy the brand-name cables made under a full moon in the Black Forest of oxygen-free cooper using a secret braiding formula discovered on a wall carving in the Great Pyramid.

Most of the musicians I see falling for this sort of nonsense are well-heeled amateurs who don't have to pay the bills with their gear.
