Playing along, everythings fine then....nothing. Thought I had
accidentally pulled my cord out, or something stupid. Looked back at
the Amp, and it was making this humming sound. I kicked on the
Standby, then tripped it off and it worked again. It did this twice
last night. Each time, I tripped the Standby, then , after a few
seconds, tripped it off. Sound came back each time, but this was
reallllllllly weird. I guess it's time for the Bench. The whole Amp
was re-wired a couple years Ago. New Power Tubes ( 6 ), new pre-amp
tube.
Correct me if I'm wrong, butt, I think it broke.
ALWAYS keep a few Optimus STA 2500's on hand.
I have 6(none for sale, thank you) so as to fire up my BANK of Minimus
7's, and JBL 4208's miked with a Telefunken U47.
You people tend to think that a "bass amp" is "all that", when in fact,
that's all it does... bass...rather poorly.
Speakers, and the amp feeding it, are to REPRODUCE the EXACT input(your
bass!) being stuffed into it ACCURATELY!
Find a nice used Altec Model 19 for instance.
109 db WITH ONE WATT, 140 DB at it's maxed rated RMS continuous 50! (200
peak?)
Umm... I replaced my 15s in my old cab with RCFs. 108 db @ 1 watt
meter. You were saying??? They were nice drivers. Italian made, I
believe.
