I saw a band playing on a docked cruise liner, made me wonder if as a

Any experiences out there?

No direct experiences myself, but I've heard and read numerous times
that it's a low-paid grind, and that the only people really making out
are the agents who recruit the players and get them to sign the
contracts.

It seems like something I might have done as a young man with a keen
sense of adventure. Nowadays I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy being on the
open sea for long stretches, no matter what I was doing there.
