Indeed.  It is pretty cool.
All this time, I thought strings had millions of microscopic speakers built
into them.

Well, that could still be the case, as the effect is an artefact of the
way the video was taken, rather than showing us the actual motion of the
string.

The 'shutter' on the camera is a rolling shutter, basically it refreshes
the video a row of pixels at a time - so it's like having a narrow
horizontal slit moving from bottom to top.  So, as well as strobe type
effects from the shutter speed there is an additional effect from each
bit of the sensor seeing the string in a slightly different position.

In this case it looks like the string could be wobbling like that, as
the string always looks stringy, although that's not quite how string
vibrate - here check this one out:

Clearly this isn't just a strobe showing what's really happening - at
least I hope not!
