At around 3:00 the guy playing lead totally reminds me of Nigel from Spinal tap not only in appearance but in behavior. Is it just me?

Maybe a bit. Consider that Spinal Tap had to be satirizing something, and that something by necessity had to have come first :-)

Side note: When Leon starts in with Youngblood, what are those three chords he's playing? I mean, I know the root notes, but what does he actually play? I should know this, but I don't.

If you're referring to the bits starting at about 3:12, I think they're just dom7ths. D7, Eb7, E7.
