I would also add: Do NOT use your thumb as a vice grip to clamp
notes. the pressure should come from the fingers only. The thumb is
just a counterbalance for the neck.
What you're really saying is not to use too much grip pressure with
your fingering hand. It's physically impossible not to apply a
countering force with your thumb, or with the elbow of your plucking
hand. Can't be done! However, it is a good idea not to use
excessive grip force with your fingering hand, so your basic message
is right.
He did say "using your right forearm as a counterbalance". You must
have missed that. It's clearly possible, although personally I find it
awkward.
