BUT....since I left that band I have been shut out of a few bands
because of my age (42) and have seen many Craigslist ads looking only
for musicians younger than me. There are exceptions, of course, but
most play music that doesn't interest me.

More or less same goes for me..I didn't want to focus on the "age"
thing necessarily, rather on the fact that, as is the case here in
Sydney, with shrinking live venues, and other venues offering 3-4
bands a night playing anything from goth to metal to hard core punk,
it appears to be increasingly difficult to find decent people to play
with...
