All,
struggling to get rid of this, have tried the usual things (google,
forums etc.) without luck, has anyone had this trojan and knows how to
get rid of it, please?

thanks
Go here and do everything you're told to do, no matter how tedious it
may seem:

Don't be dissuaded by the informal nature of the site. The guy who wrote
it knows exactly what he's doing. When you're finished, figure out who
in your home messed up your computer and smash their fingers with a
hammer.
No, figure out who in the home is responsible, and educate them. Then
make sure you have decent protection for you PC... and then find the
writer of the trojan/virus, yours or any other, and smash HIS fingers
with a hammer. If the sight of blood disturbs you, let me know and I'll
help ;-)
(not condoning mindless violence here, but if you've ever had to clean up
a computer you will know what I'm talking about)

For what it's worth (which probably isn't much, since everyone has a
different opinion), my computer's been totally free of annoyances for 6
years, even with a 3 year period of teenage nonsense. I attribute this
happy situation to:
80% - ZoneAlarm Pro (just the firewall, password protected)*
10% - Antivirus (Norton, then AVG)
10% - Education and arm twisting
Kid: "Dad - what's the password? The firewall's buggin me."
Me: "Good."
In the past 6-7 years since I've had my current computer with WinXP, I had a
couple of "surprises" at first. Nothing major, and they were a good
motivation to make me want to be up to date. NO problems since... except
last year when I stupidly interrupted the update from SP2 to SP3, despite
the computer telling me that the system might become unstable (all I could
see were issues with graphics drivers, how bad could that be? ;-) So that
was my own fault.
However... I've dealt with my wife's computer on quite a few occasions...
and you have to do that because otherwise they will use your own computer.
I still want to smash the hand of the guy who writes the bad stuff.
