I guess there is a sucker born every minute...or is the book written
by an ex guitarist? :-)
I asked myself this very question a few weeks ago after rehearsing a
new drummer for a gig playing the after party at a show featuring 2 of
my favorite guitarists, Steve Ferguson & Big Al Anderson. After the
blistering 7 hour rehearsal the night before, he couldn't remember a
single cut, any groove we rehearsed, any endings or seemingly how to
play the drums at all...except that he did manage to play
excruciatingly loud in the very small (intimate, in gig-speak) venue.
A very embassassing & humbling experience to say the least!
