That's really sad. What kind of gig was it, how was your merchandise
set up and did you promote it from the stage?
We had a small table with posters and cds. They look quite nice and
professionnal wrapped in cello. We did promote it on stage, at least 2
times, maybe 3.
Problem was that those 2000 people weren't there by choice. Let me
explain. It's a big Winnebago festival kind. Every year, they gather
there to park their rolling home. They call it a Festival because they
hire a lot of different bands and artists. We were playing after 2
well known local impersonator (we see them on TV quite often).
Usually, we play to people willing to dance to rock'n roll. We are
used to see the dance floor packed. Friday, they came in with their
folding chair and filled up the place. They go see whatever is going
on in the arena, wether it's a stand up comic or a rock'n roll band.
To keep the explanation short: they weren't our target audience.
We should do better in 2 weeks: it's a rockn'roll festival where we
were designated as the best band of the weekend. There will probably
be more than 3000 people. I hope we'll sell more than 8 this time...
At that rate, it'll take a long time selling the 135 copies to break
even.
