Itching for a fight? What the hell would I want to fight for? All I
did was make some observations and obvious statements.

No, Brian, you responded to *my* post, which responded to Benj's. Your
first line? "Come on, Rich. Do you do any live gigging?"

You, on the other hand, make insinuations about laziness, ADD

For some reason, Benj, who I wrote that in response to, took that
comment as the good-natured jab that was intended. Lighten up, baby.

and things as absurd as worrying about pulling your amp off
the cab...

I've seen it happen in gigging situations and rehearsals, Brian, three
or four times. In all cases but one, the cable pulled out before the
head reached the tipping point. The one case where it didn't wasn't
pretty. And yeah, I was the victim once (cable pulled out in time).

That's what I don't get, the impulse some people feel
to argue about the most pointless things. Whether or not
manufacturers will ever do it is entirely beside the point -- I don't
give a damn. What I suggested is a simple, obvious solution to a
number of things.

First, Benj suggested it, not you.

Second, what is simple and obvious to you isn't necessarily to everyone
else. Les raised the point that the old Les Paul Recording amps had XLR
inputs. If it's so obvious, why didn't the technology become
universally accepted?

Third, I raised some potential drawbacks. Period. Carr basically
agreed with my view, but I didn't see you poucing on him. And I
emphasized in a previous post that I'm not *opposed* to the idea.

Benj asked why this wasn't the standard. I gave some thoughts on why
and obstacles that might have to be overcome in order for it to become a
*standard*. I never said the idea doesn't have merit.

You respond in this post the following: "Whether or not manufacturers
will ever do it is entirely beside the point." But what you seem to be
missing is that this was *precisely* Benj's point, which is what I was
responding to.

Get it now?
