I've got a pool of about 50 cassettes I'm going through - everything from
out of print albums to my own live recordings. I'm about halfway through
now. Just finished one that featured my first "live" bass solo at 17 or 18
in front of like 1000 people... *shudder*
Try using lossless files to record your live tapes to the computer. They
compress the files less than MP3s and don't lose anything. Here's a link to
what seems to be a decent explanation with links to more
information and software.

I've had great results with CD to CDR transfers using FLAC files but I
haven't tried the 70s cassettes yet, which I have as MP3s, Cassette to MP3
to Audio CDs and further compressed MP3s for the web site.
