Hey, don't apologize! This is the INTERNET for crying out loud! And
don't pout either. Mostly the arguments here aren't about substance
anyway. Mostly it's about semantics. You'll know when you have
"oldtimers disease" when you go to the mail box to pick up your latest
"Bass Player" magazine and you can't remember how to get back to the
house!
Don't worry about Jim and Brian. Hey Brian is a lawyer. That means
he's not just an arrogant jerk, but a PROFESSIONAL arrogant jerk! But
he does know a lot about electronics too. and he's a decent bass
player on top. PLUS, he has a dry sense of humor that is funny as
hell. It's no fun going round and round with someone so dumb it makes
it too easy! Brian is always fun to argue with. We do it all the
time!
Jim and Brian irritate me, but they aren't the reason for this. Brian has
folks snowed about his knowledge of electronics. He knows all the "everyone
knows" stuff, but unfortunately lots of the "everyone knows" stuff is
misleading or just plain false. He simply doesn't have the knowledge to know
the difference.
Point is that if you want to dive in and participate on the NET, you
have to develop a thick hide. You can already have it like Brian and
Jim or you can grow one quick. People who can't grow one usually end
up posting a message like yours here but unlike you they don't say
they aren't leaving. They usually give the old "take my ball and go
home speech and slink off to one of the moderated groups where you get
booted even for criticizing anything that Fender builds. To me those
forums are like going down for the third time in warm honey. Feh. But
to each his own.
I have a very thick hide, and hurt feelings isn't what this is about. Brian
and Jim really don't count, but too many other folks, a couple of whom know
a great deal about acoustics and electronics, are on my case all the time
and there has to be a reason for that. And then there's Gary of a thousand
aliases, if I weren't here, he wouldn't be here annoying everybody, and I
feel a bit guilty about that.

mental ability. I used to know all this stuff like the back of my hand, but
here I get called out on practically everything I say. I have to figure out
if it's me, or if it's that the level of knowledge has dropped so far that
the folks here all think all the "everyone knows" stuff is gospel and they
don't want to take the time to educate themselves as to what's true and
what's just old wives' tales. Either way, it seems that I'm wasting my time
here. I'm not leaving because I'm hurt or upset or mad, I just need time to
do some self-evaluation. One thing is for sure though, I've proved over and
over both here and in alt.music.Home-Studio that, Alzheimers or not, I've
still got one hell of an ear, and I know a good mix when I hear one. :-)
