Best deal I've found on 9v batteries was at Lowe's, for (if I recall) a 6I have found that generic brands perform just a well as the name brands. In
or 8 pack for about $9.00. Better than Wal Mart, at least around here.
These were Energizer alkalines.
fact, with AA cells, I've had Energizer cells that ran down before the
others in a piece of equipment. Rayovacs or bargain brands never did this to
me. Duracells are good, but why pay the premium?
I once performed a test using an Energizer cell vs. Dollar General brand
cell. I put them under load and monitored the voltage as the cells ran down.
The both were the same.
I suspect 9 volt batteries are about the same.
Don't listen to bunk about cheap batteries leaking. They all can leak if the
voltage is allowed to drop too low and the battery sits around too long
without being changed.
