How do you know his SMTP server accepts connection on 3535? My web hosting SMTP servers use 2525 as well as 25. Cox, my ISP, doesn't accept 3535 either.
The OP needs to check with his ISP to see what, if any, alternative port they accept. His ISP may also reject connections outside of their network. And the hotel may be blocking all ports except for a few.
