The problem with a regular car battery is a) if you tip it over there's
acid everywhere and b) they're not designed for repeated discharge and
re-charge. Which is why you need the sealed deep cycle battery. For
the purposes of finding out if a battery + inverter will power your amp
it should be fine. You could also take the risk of taking it to the
bluegrass gig - but the thought of someone knocking over a car battery
is somewhat disturbing. Even the so called 'sealed' car batteries often
turn out to be not really sealed when knocked over.
And, if you had to buy the Peavey 75 watt combo----I've got a "minx"....don't know if they still make 'em, but I'd be
$389.95
shocked if they were that much....
There seems to be a current 35 watt model for ~$299
---Wow,,,I doubt I paid more than $200 or so for the Minx new....
