As I said, you were technically correct in your argument, but to me, it just wasn't worth the bother. Let me rephrase, then -- you made a valid point.

And without making this sound like a great big hug-fest, I can understand how a contributor would *not* be bothered by it.

In my family we often give stuff to one another. If I buy a new and improved drill, I might give my old one to my brother. When somebody no longer needs a crib or toy, it goes to someone who does need it. The way our family works is that you would never sell those items. You can only give them away to someone else or to charity. Now, I could have *sold* my drill since I bought it, but my brother would never dream of selling what I gave him.

However, I understand that in other families a gift is a gift. Whatever the recipient chooses to do with it is their choice.
