You know what... I have kept quiet about this until now, but this
has
to be said.
Whatever I decided to do with the site would have been wrong in
someone's eyes. If I had sold it with profits going in my pocket,
there would have been an outcry. Hence my decision to have profits
goto a charity, and I had every right to decide which charity.
There
is nothing controversial or political about the cause.

No, the dialogue here should convince you that your choice is
controversial and politically charge - you're not ignorant of what
"adoption advocacy" and similar phrases suggest to the minds of most
people who live in the United States. Playing dumb, which is what it
sounds to me like you're trying to do, will not convince anyone.
Shut up Steve. Lynda had a right to do whatever she wanted with the
site, no one here has any right to complain about it. It wasn't AGB's
site, it was Lynda's site about AGB. She offered to take down any
contributions by anyone here before transferring ownership, so
everyone had a chance to remove anything they had contributed, if they
so desired.
It's one thing to discuss politics here, it's another to try to make
her decision political or to question the morality of what she did.
She could have donated the proceeds from the sale of the site to
whatever charity she wanted, and no one of you would have had any
right to say a thing about it.
She didn't do anything to insult you, and if she believes in
supporting something that you don't, that is her right. Get over it!
Lynda put in a lot of time and effort over the years to keep the site
informative and interesting, that makes it her site and her right to
do whatever she wants with it and with the proceeds of its sale.
I think I'm with the majority when I say, "Thank you Lynda!"
Lynda, CW and I worked this one out without your participation (as you
might have noticed from reading the rest of this thread). At no point
did we resort to saying "Shut up" to each other. Usenet is uncensored
and if you don't like what I have to say, you can use the killfile
function of your newsreader; until then, I will feel free to voice my
opinion, just like everyone else here can, and I will continue to try to
do it in a civil way, unlike the way you just did.
