Re: agb.com has new owner

You know what... I have kept quiet about this until now, but this has
to be said.

Whatever I decided to do with the site would have been wrong in
someone's eyes. If I had sold it with profits going in my pocket,
there would have been an outcry. Hence my decision to have profits
goto a charity, and I had every right to decide which charity. There
is nothing controversial or political about the cause. There is no
hidden agenda - it's about saving lives. If you think that is a bad
agenda then you have problems.

Why on earth should I have just given the site away? Not only that,
but how would I have decided who to have given it to? I had a LOT of
people ask me to just hand it over to them, with nothing to base my
decision on. And now, the bitterness at not being chosen as the new
site owner is manifest, and I'm kicked in the teeth. Nice.

I had a lot of time and effort invested in that site - way more than
anyone who ever contributed. I got burned several times by people who
were going to help with some major work, but it never seemed to work
out. While I expected nothing in return for the work - and never did
- the fact that I had a custom bass built for me as a thank you for my
work is awesome, and is a reflection of the type of people and
atmosphere that made a.g.b. what it was. But that gift did not
commit me to anything.

As it now happens, there has and will be no exchange of money for
anyone or any cause. CW went above and beyond to help with the
potential transfer of the site to the new owner - whoever it could
have been. As there was no bidders, I have given it to CW - he
deserves it. He offered to make payments for AoL, but I have since
said that it not necessary. I have also requested that the donate
button be removed from the site - the donate button was CWs idea - not
mine.

I wish you all well, and hope that the site works out for all. I have
a feeling it will.
