I can't believe you find it necessary to claim this is a "hot button"

I am obviously not doing a good job of communicating. We're missing one
another completely, and you're misreading my intent, I think. Whatever
it is, let's put this aside. Here's the kernel of what I'm trying to
say: Kids have always, and will always, outgrow their tastes for music
that appeals only to kids. It's not a surprise that lots of modern kids
drop the kiddie stuff and "discover" the stuff that we listen to. It's
not a strictly modern phenomenon.
I have never, and may never outgrow my love for bubblegum. A good song is
a good song. Just because I love Miles Davis doesn't mean I can't crank
the new Britney in my car now and again. I don't disagree that most
people's tastes evolve. Some people just make music tastes cumulative as
opposed to strictly replacing or retaining them.
It's all good

At least around here, it would be easier to be exposed to "the new Britney"
if the radio stations which play her songs weren't so objectionable to
listen to for so many reasons. Stupid screaming commercials, stupid DJs
making stupid jokes, and if they announce the name of a song, they're
babbling so much that it's highly unlikely the listener will hear what they
said.
