Yeah, right! They have these Black Friday sales with huge discounts
on items that are in very limited quantities, and they don't know
that folks are going to crowd and push and shove and even fight to
get at them, even though the same thing happens somewhere every year,
often at a Walmart. As with all major retailers, profit is their top
priority, and don't you ever forget it!
You say, "profit," like it was a bad thing. <g>

It is a bad thing when they're stealing from the average worker to
create it. It isn't bad at all when they're paying their workers a fair
wage, and cahrging reasonable prices.

"Stealing"? Any business that doesn't make a profit must close its
doors. I disagree that all profit is theft.

I did not say that all profit is theft. The portion of profit that is
theft, is the portion taken to give executives huge, undeserved salaries
and bonuses and trips. That basically comes out of the salaries of the
people who are actually doing the work, and that's theft, period! Do you
actually think any executive deserves to get millions in salary and
bonuses when the company he's running is going broke?
I'll try again. Who decides what a particular executive deserves? Last I
knew it was the owners of the company in the form of the shareholders and
their representatives the board of directors.

Often, the company executives are on the board of directors, and they set
their own salaries.


The general business model is you hire who can produce the most for the
least cost. If I hire a guy for $20 per hour and he produces three times
as much as another guy who I pay $10 hour who is over paid?
Theft is when you take something that is not yours. If I hire someone for
any amount of money that he agrees to, I'm not taking anything away from
him. Your logic just doesn't hold water. In the final analysis we are
each responsible for ourselves. It's when we give up that responsibility
that we get in trouble. Your system is to vilify everyone who is doing
well for themselves. That is NOT the American way.

You're wrong, I'm not villifying anybody, they are villifying themselves.
The facts speak for themselves, greedy corporate executives have taken down
company after company. It's still happening as we speak. GM, Ford and
Chrystler are in trouble now because of poor business decisions by
management, who are still raking in millions of dollars for making those
poor decisions. Fanny May and Freddy Mac are in trouble now because of poor
decisions, and downright dishonesty by their management. Who in hell do you
think decided that risky loans to folks who were likely to default not only
was a good idea, they could be used as collateral for other risky loans?
What's happening in Corporate America today is NOT the American way, if it
is, then America is doomed! If you think that what's going on at top levels
in corporate America is the American way, then either you're blind, or if
you do see it and condone what's going on, then you're part of the problem.
I have no problem with people doing well for themselves, as long as they
don't do it at the expense of everyone else. I do have a problem with any
corporate executive who rakes in millions of dollars for himself while
putting the corporation he works for into bankrupcy, and so should you, if
you really care anything about the American way.
