You say, "profit," like it was a bad thing. <g>

-Raf

It is a bad thing when they're stealing from the average worker to
create it. It isn't bad at all when they're paying their workers a fair
wage, and cahrging reasonable prices.

Hmmmm, who decides what's "fair"? Stealing is pretty easy, you go to
jail for that; but "fair" is a whole other concept.

Gerry

A far wage would be one that would allow the workers to live without
government assistance, without going hungry, and being able to afford
adequate shelter and clothing, and having a few extra bucks to spend
every week, and a bit to save toward retirement.
I don't know about "fair", but "unfair" is when the average worker
isn't even making a living wage, and the executives are paying themselves
huge salaries, and getting mult-million dollar bonuses and company-paid
junkets all over the world, especially if the company is going in the
crapper at the time..
It's been proven that "trickle down economics" doesn't work, but
"trickle up economics" does work, give the folks at the bottom a few
extra bucks and they go out and spend it, buying goods and services, and
that boosts the economy.
On a slightly different subject, there have been billions and billions
of dollars "lost" in the stock market over the last few months, where did
all that money go. Did it just vanish into thin air, or was it never
really there at all? We've had the dot com bubble, the housing bubble,
and now the stock market bubble, didn't they all collapse because the
wealth they "created" was imaginary?

If you were trying to respond to my question apparently it wasn't clear so
let me restate it. "WHO decides what's "fair""? I have a sister who has
generally made close to twice the annual income I have over the years but
who barely makes ends meet. Which of us is making that "fair wage"?

Gerry

Oh, I understand your question now. Who decides what's fair? Me, of course!
:-)
Seriously, how is it fair that a corporate executive who is mismanaging a
company gets that huge compoensation package when the folks that actually do
the work are losing their jobs? The head of Ford motor company made over 28
million while 51,000 workers were laid off, is that fair. There just needs
to be a common sense application of fairness, and that ain't happening.
