Re: Hand problems and bad info

Wow Clive,
I find it fascinating you were told something so... frankly. In the states,
in my experience, now-days, all of the warnings and disclaimers at the
pre-op visit make you wonder if you'll even survive a simple trigger finger
release.
A doc once told me medicine is not an exact science, and If that's what I
was looking for, I was in the wrong business. Meh... Outcomes may vary,
because not everyone is 16 anymore :-P Just my 2p. Take Care brother!

Firstly...my sympathies for Mike below.
An accident you have to deal with according
to the circumstances...but what about totally
over-optimistic advice from a hand specialist?

I'm currently recovering from trigger finger surgery
Monday just gone which has left my hand looking
like it was hit by a truck...fingers like a bunch of
bananas, very painful etc. I can't drive, one hand
typing etc.

Prior to the op he told me I'd be playing bass again
within a few days which is clearly not gonna happen.
Weeks maybe. Why did he make so light of the op?

Had I still been pro I'd be in real trouble trying to find
deps (subs) at short notice...I also told the office
I'd be out for only a couple of days. Wrong.

Advice on post-op leaflet sums it up....
'Maximise use of hand as pain allows'
Bah.
