I haven't used Yuku but participate in a discussion forum there on
another subject - works fine for me, been using it for a few years
now there. Used to be ezboard, now called yuku. I'm happy to be a
'moderator' and remove spam, and I'm also happy to pay $6 for the
first month - maybe we could rotate that around, or maybe set up a
PayPal to handle it.

For business reasons I lease a virtual private server. Hosting
something for AGB basically costs me nothing. I've had azwebpages.com
for 10 years now, so I'm not going anywhere.

The question is whether we need a web based forum or not. With several
regulars facing extra hassle for newsgroups, I'd say maybe it's worth
considering. We might pick up some newbies, which is something that
doesn't seem to be happening much these days.

I'd be willing to moderate for spam, but not content. If people wanted
a moderated forum, we could add one. I'm sure folks like you would
step up as moderators.

A few years ago I would have said the idea was premature. Now, I'm not
so sure.

Personally, Usenet still works fine for me. I have no need to leave it,
and I find it more convenient to open up my newsreader and check on a
variety of my interests than to have to visit a bunch of different web
sites, each with its own interface.

There are good news servers still out there, both free and low-cost.
I'm not sure I understand what the fuss is about, perhaps because my ISP
never provided a news server so I had to find my own a long time ago.
