got a 8 channel mixer
4 singers, drum, bass, & guitar
guitar player says 3 for drums - 1 for guitar - bass turns up.
i say 2 for drums (kick & over-head), 1 for guitar, and sans amp for bass
i plan on winning the argument, but has anyone used a large diaphram mic
live for over head drums?
suggestions...?

If your PA is that small, I'm guessing the room is also small to mid
size, in which case I'd do your PA a favor and just keep drums (and
bass) out of it. It'll greatly clean up the vocal sound, be simpler
and easier to run from the stage, and won't sound like mush.
To do drums respectably you need subs and a kilowatt or better of
power.
The KISS principle is useful.
