I can't remember who it was that wanted me to report back about this
preamp...
well, I can't report back, I just wanted to say I haven't forgotten :-)
I got the preamp. It was going to be a tight fit in my bass but it seemed
doable. I drilled the extra hole (5 holes in total) and that was good but...
This bass has F-holes, and that reduces the useable space somewhat as I
don't want cabbles showing out of the F-holes. In addition, the top of the
bass was carved from teh inside to reduce its deptch enough for the pots to
be fitted properly. Now I have to carve the 5th hole accordingly and it's in
such awkward place that I can't do it properly. At least not with the tools
I have.
So I was talking to a luthier I am friendly with about this and he just
laughed and said to bring it to him, he'd get it sorted in a heart bit, and
even carve some extra space to fit the battery better. The only problem is
he was going on holidays and during August he's busy travelling to shows and
things.. so until September thsi project is on hold.
But I will report back :-)
So far, all I can say is... it looks pretty. ;-)
