Actually offensive lineman and quarterbacks are generally the smartest

As I said earlier, my wife and I were at Jets training camp last week.
We met and "chatted" with 3 players. One lineman and two others (new
to the team, don't recall positions, but they were either receivers or
safeties). With those two, we had a few sentences of back and forth.
They were articulate, responsive, nice guys. The lineman, the size of
a minivan, by the way, could apparently only say, literally, 'Uh huh."
"Have a good season."
"Uh huh."
"Stay healthy."
"Uh huh."
"Hope Favre does well for the team."
"Uh huh."
"Thanks for signing autographs."
"Uh huh."
"You know you're the size of a freakin' minivan, don't you?"
"Uh huh."
"Who are you gonna vote for in the next election?"
"Uh huh."
You get the idea.
Note: I said "offensive lineman", not just "lineman"... this is important
to note because while "offensive lineman" are generally one of the
highest scoring groups, "defensive lineman" are generally one of the
lowest scoring groups.
According to The New Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Football by Paul
Zimmerman average scores for each position are:
* Offensive tackle - 26
* Center - 25
* Quarterback - 24
* Guard - 23
* Tight end - 22
* Safety - 19
* Linebacker - 19
* Cornerback - 18
* Wide receiver - 17
* Fullback - 17
* Halfback - 16
