Brian makes this point quite regularly, and I think it's somewhat
deserved. Personally, I'd rather WRITE a bad song than play a tired
cover.
If those were the only two choices, I'd agree. But they aren't -- how 'bout writing a good song, or maybe more to the point -- how 'bout giving your own interpretation to those tens or maybe even hundreds of thousands of great, forgotten or unknown songs out there? There's a vast library of great material out there that goes unperformed and unappreciated. I don't know what grinds me more -- tired covers or "originals" that sound just like tired covers.
You don't actually write bad songs, do you, Corey?
