Actually, OP didn't really say he needed more volume - he did say he needed more headroom, so the amp won't go into clipping at the volume level he's using. The additional 2db should definitely help there.

If you're getting more volume, then you don't need to drive the amp so hard, do you? You're preserving headroom.
