I'd ask the same question.. why buy a Bass of a certain make if you have

Uh... I think Leo, CBS, etc., did a lot of thinking of the PRICE POINT
on the pickups they put in. SOMETIMES you get lucky and they sound
good too. However, the Jazz and Precision basses are the Chevy
Smallblocks of the music world... Good solid base model, with lots of
aftermarket options to tune it up and make it work better, go faster,
etc.
Buy a Bass only after
playing it and that's what you've got, get used to it...
Well, that's ONE way to live your life. So, you've never upgraded a
computer, huh? Just buy a box, and get used to it? No additional
memory, or upgrading the modem, or...
I guess its like putting mag alloy wheels on a car - you think it goes
faster.
Well, you're suggesting that a mainly cosmetic change makes you feel
like something is better... in this case, I wouldn't say replacing
crappy magnets equates to swapping out the wheels.
Luckily, we live in a world where both methods are valid, Larry... I
just don't understand the disdain. Persoanally, I'm all about finding
a Jazz that FEELS right, because I know I can make it SOUND any way I
want to, by changing out some components!
