Hey folks, been lurking in the group for a while, thinking I might take the
step and buy myself a bass this week - I've been testing the waters with the
bass from my son's bandmate and I think it's time to buy one myself.
I understand that I need to test out the choices that I make and find what I
feel comfortable with, and one that I like in the price range (CDN $350-450)
is a Schecter (sorry, don't know the model but I think it's in the Stiletto
Series), and another is an Ibanez. I think I like the feel of the Schecter a
little better, but I know nothing about them? And, I don't want to believe
everything that the salesman says without a little validation.
Are Schecter bass' decent/reliable in general? Or all things being equal
would the Ibanez (which I like too!) be a better investment?
I'm not planning on touring any time soon, I have to take some lessons, learn
to play, but I'm looking for one that will last.
Thanks
I always suggest checking out used stores in your area... yes, it's
nice to have a shiny NEW instrument, but in the price range you're
looking, you may be able to get a MUCH nicer bass for your money.
Plus, someone else will have already taken the depreciation hit for
you, if in 6 months you decide playing bass isn't for you...
Just my 2 cents.
