I currently have DR Long Necks on my Schecter. For reasons I'll never
understand, the D'Addario XLs I'd been using on a previous 35" 5er
were too short; they tapered before the nut even though both basses
had top-load bridges. Go figger.
Anyway, is there a different *very* long string that you'd recommend?
At the very least I might get another set of Long Necks for reserve in
case I break a string, but I'd be happy to try something else instead.
Not coated, please.
BTW, the DRs are taper-wounds; that's not a prerequisite.
For whatever it's worth on my 35" Peavey Cirrus I use Dean Markley
Blue Steel's and haven't had any length issues with those. Dunno the
geometry of your bass's tailpiece and tuner's though. Caveat: they
aren't tapered, and my Cirrus is a 4-string.
