My daughter has gotten good enough on piano that the songs she's playing
now have more complex bass cleft music - specifically chords! To have
fun, and to play together, I've been following the single notes (granted,
a couple of octaves lower), but now I have no idea what to play.
Sometimes the lowest note on the chord sounds right, sometimes the
highest, sometimes neither. I'm sure part of the answer will include
having to increase my ability to read music (which isn't all that great),
but to have that fun time together keep going will be worth it (she's
nine, going on 15...).
The books are the 3A level for piano instruction, if that helps anyone
know what I'm looking at.
Thanks!

Does her sheet music have chord symbols? If not, my approach would be to
first figure out what the chord the left hand is playing and then base the
bass line on the chord changes.
