Somehow, I doubt it. It's pretty easy to see who the smokers are by
their rigourous defense of their "right" to smoke, and their denial of
evidence that second hand smoke is harmful to non-smokers.

Any reasonably capable person trained in the art can debate either side
of any issue. It is not that hard. That you would even be *interested*
in identifying Them is much more interesting.

You're right! It isn't that I care to identify Them, it's just that who
They are is obvious by the fact that their illogical denial of the adverse
effects of secondhand smoke.

You are hereby formally notified that I will not reveal whether I
smoke or not on any online source. It's beside the point. I might
just start up (or quit) tomorrow.

If you are not a smoker, it's highly unlikely that you're about to start
smoking at your age. If you are a smoker, it's highly unlikely that you'll
quit tomorrow, or any time soon, especially in light of your posts on the
subject in this thread. If you think smoking is not harmful to both the
smoker and those who have to breathe his smoke, you're seriously deluding
yourself.

I did the same thing back when I was an addict, and I'm amazed at how
much I deluded myself back then.

I detect more cognitive dissonance on the part of *ex* smokers than
on the part of those who currently smoke. It's not an easy thing.

Is it that you're really dectecting cognitive dissonance on the part of ex
smokers, or it just your addiction misaligning your thought process?
Regardless of studies, I have first hand evidence that smoking adversley
affects one's health. I went from having four or five colds a year and
constant sinus problems to averaging less than one cold per year and having
very little sinus trouble, just by quitting smoking and getting away from
envoirnments where I was exposed to second hand smoke. That may not be
statistically significant, but it was enough to convince me.

An addiction does whatever is necessary to protect itself, including
brainwashing the addict. Does anyone here doubt that smoking adds
billions of dollars to our national health care costs?

No. Nobody cares. Even if it were true.

Yeah, and that's one of the problems. You do realize that you're helping
to pay for those costs, don't you? BTW, you're wrong, lots of people care,
and most of them don't smoke.
