No. In the pocket. That may mean behind for the verse, ahead
for the chorus, whatever works. Much less often behind - the
Strolling Bones made "bass ahead, drums behind*" a cliche, one
that cannot be ignored.
*although it's really "hat on top of the beat, snare behind."
