From Africa... it means (if I remember correctly) free like a bird. She isthe daughter of saxophonist Jaques Johnson, with whom I worked in the early
90s. In the 80s, Meshell was the BADDEST bassist on DC's go-go scene, and
when I heard her demos, I was floored. The woman is a monster!
