I'm going for it this Thanksgiving. My curiosity got the better of me.
Something about it just SCREAMS "Ugly American".

Well, John, that's just a problem in your own head, you'll just have to get over it. Not an American idea, the concept is widespread.

Turducken is great, because the meats complement each other very well. Turkey (at least real turkey -- not the chemical-laden factory-produced things they sell at the local Safeway) gets a little dry, but duck is very rich and balances that. The technique of larding or barding dry meats is as old as the hills, and stuffing a rich meat inside a dry meat is the same idea.

Do it! Then alleviate your self-loathing conscience by 60 minutes of self-flagellation with a hickory switch, right after dinner.
