I think a flat reamer if such a thing exists is what I would need. The holes
only need to be opened up about 3/16" into the wood. Just the ferrules don't
fit. If the new tuners fit the old ferrules I would be home free.
Thanks for all the offerings, something should work. This is a really cool
bass and is almost pristine wood-wise despite being over 40 years old. I
would really like to keep it that way.
You can see it here. It is just the bass, all the electronics are removed
because it also needs
to be rewired. The back is bookmatched flamed maple with a 3 tone sunburst.
