I don't do 'wood' or glue... most alloys and welding processes though - but
point taken, even though I do believe some Bass players will have
engineering contacts... just hope the guy sorted it out!

For the price of a quality reamer that large, you could buy a whole lot of
dowels and glue...

I have a Kent Beatle bass copy. The tuners are toast. I got some new
ones
that are killer, unfortunately the ferrules are a tad bigger than the
holes. The new tuner trees will not fit in the old ferrules. It has of
course a hard plastic (celluloid?) overlay on the headstock. How can I
drill these out with out tearing up the edges of the surface?
