Small clubs. :-) The vast majority of PA systems I've heard lately seem to have been designed by brain dead retired engineers from Sanyo's old car stereo division. Absolutely hideous.
Whatcha putting through it?
We do vox and guitar, and have been quite happy with the improvement
in sound we got replacing our aging Yorkville gear with new Behringer
B1220 and B1520 cabs.
When we need drums and bass in the PA, the addition of their subs and
adequate power have been impressive. And for the money, dare I say
shockingly good.
I second what Todd wrote. We use just about the same set-up. We're playing Friday night at The Bay, on Braddock's Bay off Manitou Beach Road. (Spencerport/Hilton) I suck as a bass player, but the band sounds good. If you're on the West side, check out the PA live.
That said, we purchased Behringer because the cost/performance trade-off seemed about right for us. There are definitely better, but unless used, much more costly solutions out there. I would rather have EAW, or JBL etc., if money were not a consideration.
