But everything else being equal, doesn't it provide a more shallow depth of field? I like shooting people and blurring the background, so I care about this. I quote from this article: http://photo.net/learn/optics/dofdigital/

Don't know, but I can tell you this, I have no trouble getting blurred background with the new camera, and it has plenty of depth-of-field for landscape shots. I do miss having those fast prime lenses, though. The modern zooms are nice, but when your largest aperture is f:3.5 or 4, you're a little limited. Another thing I miss is depth-of-field preview, which I haven't had since my old Fuji SLR. Of course, there's no penalty with a digital camera for shooting over and over until you get the result you want! I don't miss paying for film and processing fees at all.
