Yeah, that's some nice stuff! The samba thing is killin' Is that a guitar
or
a piccolo bass you're using?
Thanks for the kind words! The samba tune is just my regular 4-string
Stambaugh bass, my 5-string Dean Tenor Bass (EADGC), and my very abused old
Fender Strat. I don't have a piccolo bass right now, though I'm watching
for the right candidate.
If I were you I'd re-record that one. Tighten up the arrangements and the
sounds, and it's a hit.
Abut the only things I can say are a) dial off the low and low mids on the
"bass chords" a) lose the pich shifting. It makes everything a little
muddy
and confusing.
I always put too much low end on the basses, whenever I dial in a sound
without bottom end I find myself saying "No it's a bass, put some low end in
there!" When I suck out all the lower mids I'm never happy with the bass
tone, even if it's just playing chords in the background. Any ideas on how
to get an acceptable tone, or do I just have to learn to use bass tracks
without the kind of lows I am used to hearing?
I didn't use any pitch shifting effects, all the harmonies are just
overdubbed. I used my Fulltone Distortion pedal for some of the guitar
parts, and a little chorus and wah for some short lines, but that's it for
effects.
Thanks for listening and all the suggestions, when I get some more songs
finished I'll be sure to put them up here.
